The references are all either public relations pieces published within a month or two of the article creation, or primary sources. The non-primary references have been trimmed back to only four. I'm unclear if any of them should be used beyond for basic facts:

I've never seen multiple editors struggle with basic verification like this. I'm assuming that the ai just threw in references without the ability to actually match them to content for verification purposes. A newly-created SPA account has been helpful with cleanup, but has still overlooked verification problems.
