== MrJr1999 making a multitude of incorrect additions to the article List of directorial debuts == *MrJr1999 *List of directorial debuts User:MrJr1999 has been making a multitude of incorrect additions to the article List of directorial debuts. This does not appear to be vandalism, and I believe that the user truly desires to make useful contributions to Wikipedia. Unfortunately, the user did not read the explanation at the top of the article that the directorial debuts on Wikipedia refer to the first theatrically released film of each director, not to home video releases or TV work. The user has been removing numerous directorial debuts from the list and replacing them with earlier home video or TV work (such as these edits: , , , , , ), which is problematic.<br> When I first noticed this, I simply corrected the errors that were made, left the good entries as they were (which leads me to believe that this is an unintentional mistake), and left the user a polite note on their talk page. I later noticed that the user had ignored my note on their talk page (likely due to the use of Wikipedia on a mobile phone) and continued to make the same mistakes, as can be seen here: . I left another polite note on the user's talk page, but I believe that the second message will likewise be ignored.<br> I do not have the time to check the article every day and revert the edits that are incorrect, and the messages left on the user's talk page are being ignored, so I have no other option but to bring this issue to your attention here on the noticeboard. I believe that the user wants to make a useful contribution to Wikipedia and is not a vandal, but the user seems to lack a clear understanding about appropriate editing practices on Wikipedia (as can be seen from the numerous messages on the user's talk page) and this inappropriate editing must stop. As stated, messages on the user's talk page will only be ignored, so is there another way to force them to notice the messaged on their talk page (like pop-ups on their phone blocking the edit window or something)? If you have any other ways of forcing a user to pay attention, they would be very welcome. Perhaps a brief (maybe one-week) ban on editing would force the user to take notice of messages on their talk page and reflect on their edits. I don't want to be that stern, but I don't know what other options are available when messages are ignored. --Nicholas0 (talk) 12:20, 17 March 2026 (UTC) * Comment I also share concerns about this editor. He has made many dozens of edits to film articles where he has made inexplicable edits in which he removed information that is normally present. Since he never uses the edit summary it is difficult to understand the nature of some of his edits; they may be legitimate in some instances, but because he won't engage it is not possible to follow his thinking. Erik has also shared concerns on my talk page. MrJr1999 has only been editing since the start of the year so he is a new editor and we should perhaps assume good faith in view of that, but we need to see some kind of acknowledgment from him and a willingness to discuss his edits. Betty Logan (talk) 01:17, 18 March 2026 (UTC) *:I don't think that he even knows that anyone has been messaging him. He is a new user and is also using a mobile phone to do the editing and therefore has a limited view of the site. I don't think he even knows that there is such a thing as a talk page. That is why I was wondering if there was some other way to contact him or let him know that he is making incorrect edits (like a brief one-week ban forcing him to take a break from editing and actually pay attention to his talk page), since he doesn't seem to be aware of messages on his own talk page. I left a message that was ignored and the bad edits continued (in addition to not reading the information at the top of the article, apparently the user doesn't know how to check the edit history to see the explanations I left there about how to properly edit the article either), so I left another warning, which has also been ignored. What escalation steps can now be taken? I don't want to have to keep going through all of his edits to correct them, especially because multiple things are changed in each edit and only some of them are incorrect. Something has to be done quickly, though, because the amount of edits without acknowledgement of messages regarding proper editing techniques (in multiple regards and in multiple places) is getting out of hand. It is pretty clear that the user is not a vandal and wants to contribute, but the lack of attention to messages from other users regarding proper editing techniques is extremely problematic. Nicholas0 (talk) 04:23, 18 March 2026 (UTC) *partially blocked I have blocked MrJr1999 from articlespace for 48 hours, with a personalized block message explaining that the reason for the block is to get their attention and for them to respond to talk messages and to take note of the policies and guidelines that they have been directed to. Mfield (Oi!) 04:47, 18 March 2026 (UTC) *:I am concerned that that will not be long enough, because the only way he will notice it is if he logs on to work within that span of 48 hours. If he does not, he will never notice that message. That is why I suggested a term of one week. Nicholas0 (talk) 00:11, 19 March 2026 (UTC) *::They have edited every single day for the last month hence why I settled on 48 hours. If they resume editing after that without having addressed their issues they can be reblocked for longer. I'll check back on them. Mfield (Oi!) 00:34, 19 March 2026 (UTC) *:::Thank you. We will see what happens. --Nicholas0 (talk) 00:48, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
