=== Melat Kiros === * Melat Kiros Requested action: Delete the page as a G5 violation, as the creator is not extended-confirmed. The G5 tag was declined because she is also running for Congress, even though, according to the creator, Kelob2678 (talk) 13:26, 16 February 2026 (UTC) :* I'm the admin who examined the article for speedy delete. I determined the article was not eligible for speedy delete b/c for multiple reasons, including that it didn't fall within the restrictions at Wikipedia:Contentious topics/Arab–Israeli conflict. This article is about an American lawyer who is also running for the US House of Representatives. While she has spoken out about issues related to Israel, that in itself does not automatically pull the subject under this particular contentious topic, especially when she's running for higher office in the USA. As I told Kelob2678, if there are concerns about the article bring it up for AFD, which Kelob2678 has now done at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Melat Kiros.SouthernNights (talk) 13:49, 16 February 2026 (UTC) :*:I should add that in this case, the article is not directly related to the Arab–Israeli conflict per the contentious topics listing because it is instead about an American lawyer and politician who merely protested against Israel in the USA. Saying that anyone who protests against or registers an opinion about the Arab–Israeli conflict should be covered by this contentious topics would pull in tens of thousands of additional articles. Nowhere in the contentious topics enforcement procedure does it say we should apply the topics listing this widely. SouthernNights (talk) 14:28, 16 February 2026 (UTC) :*::Certain parts of the article are indeed related to PIA, so I went in and indicated this. ECR should be enforced by reverts of edits to these sections. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 16:58, 16 February 2026 (UTC) :*:::@SuperPianoMan9167@SouthernNights The user who wrote the article is not ECR confirmed. If the non-ECR content is removed, the article is just about the campaign. :*:::@Edittttor has made other edits that could be considered ECR. :*:::Diff 1: :*:::Diff 2: :*:::Diff 3: :*:::Also has created multiple other articles with sections that may be considered ECR :*:::Example 1: :*:::Example 2: EaglesFan37 (talk) 17:27, 16 February 2026 (UTC) :*::::Counting those edits as falling under Wikipedia:Contentious topics/Arab–Israeli conflict is an extremely broad interpretation I don't agree with. To get clarification on if the interpretation should be this broad, I've asked about this on the Arbitration_Committee talk page. That said, I will, of course, follow whatever the consensus ends up being on all this. SouthernNights (talk) 17:46, 16 February 2026 (UTC) :*:::::@SouthernNights I'm not sure if they would fall under Wikipedia:Contentious topics/Arab–Israeli conflict or not, but the diffs do show edits involving inserting/removing content relating to allegations of AIPAC donations to candidates the article isn't about, removing a claim that an attack was anti-Israel, and replacing anti-semitism with anti-Israel about how some people view Nida Allam's positions on I/P (the next line and the source in the next line is Allam apologizing for past actions related to statements on I/P that some could view as antisemitic. :*:::::@Edittttor's justification in AFDs for the Chevalier and Kiros are specifically related to their activism regarding I/P. :*:::::Diff 1: :*:::::Diff 2: :*:::::@Edittttor created both of those pages, and their justification for the article being an exception to WP:NPOL was the subject's activism in I/P. EaglesFan37 (talk) 18:15, 16 February 2026 (UTC) :This seems like an extremely broad application of the contentious topic tag. The subject of this article lives in the US and simply commented on the conflict 2.5 years ago. There's no evidence that she has personal or professional connections to the topic and she has no influence over the course of events. While her comment and the public response to it made her notable, she has received lots of high quality news coverage for other topics that are not related to the conflict since then. Edittttor (talk) 16:24, 16 February 2026 (UTC) ::Since certain parts of the article are related to the Arab-Israeli conflict, I indicated this with hidden notes. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 16:56, 16 February 2026 (UTC) hab
