Day Creature (talk) 04:42, 10 January 2026 (UTC) == Philip Jose Farmer == his book Flesh has America being like ancient greece. the city-states battle through a rougher futuristic version of baseball. the teams are not just named after animals for fun... the team's "mascot" is likely the primary provider of furs and skins for the team and its fans to wear and eat. the bucks, bulls, and beavers fight it out in a semi-equal battlefield likely not too different from a ball park. MikeLavalet (talk) 05:36, 20 January 2026 (UTC) :OK, but this page is for discussing how to improve the baseball article. Unless you're suggesting that we should mention Farmer's story in this article, this comment is off-topic. If you are suggesting that — I'm very skeptical that we should. The relevant calculation is not how important baseball is to the story, but how important the story is to baseball. --Trovatore (talk) 22:09, 20 January 2026 (UTC) == Proposed merge of Vintage base ball into Baseball == Vintage baseball article short enough to merge in main Baseball article. Robloxguest3 (talk) 19:37, 5 March 2026 (UTC) :That's not really a good enough reason for me to support at this time, if you could expand on the rationale that would help. Rgrds. --BX (talk) 20:52, 6 March 2026 (UTC) ::Well, first of all, should it even be a seperate article? I see no reason to merge it at this time, so Oppose merge. Rgrds. --BX (talk) 22:04, 9 March 2026 (UTC) :::::How does it seem appropriate? Robloxguest3 (talk) 14:55, 10 March 2026 (UTC) :Merge selectively - The current article might not meet GNG and has been unsourced for a long time it seems. Seems to have quite a bit of OR. I would merge the Women playing baseball section to the history of baseball seeing as that's the best sourced section and cut most of the rest. ScrubbedFalcon (talk) 13:14, 11 March 2026 (UTC) ::Oppose - Vintage base ball as it exists today (after all, in baseball history, it wasn't "vintage") is a unique subject and sufficiently distinguished to warrant having its own article. Jeff in CA (talk) 23:16, 11 March 2026 (UTC) :::Well now it is considered vintage. Even so, if you merged the article into the history section, you could still say: ::: "A variation of baseball played today is based on old baseball rules, called Vintage base ball." :::Maybe you can add a sub-section to incorporate the article into history. :::Merge somewhere in beginning of the history section. :::Robloxguest3 (talk) 15:05, 12 March 2026 (UTC) ::::<s>I agree with Jeff in CA</s>, however as mentioned above it is poorly sourced etc. IMO, the issue should be meeting GNG. Time permitting, I can work on the article a bit. Rgrds. --BX (talk) 15:28, 12 March 2026 (UTC) ::::I'm not really seeing much RS out there, but I only looked online. It just seems like a bunch of amateur leagues are playing by vintage rules; these leagues don't meet GNG so I don't see how this style of play is notable. At least Rounders is a defined game -- Vintage is just playing regular baseball with time frozen, which is best covered in the Origins of baseball article. Now I'm leaning to AfD the whole article. Rgrds. --BX (talk) 17:55, 15 March 2026 (UTC) :::::I'm not sure that AfD is the best for this, I think merging is a good alternative to deletion here, but it seems like you support the merge for notability reasons? ScrubbedFalcon (talk) 00:20, 17 March 2026 (UTC) ::I do have one concern about the merge, Baseball is currently a FA so we would need to be careful to only merge content that meets FA requirements, for that reason Origins of baseball might be a better merge target as mentioned by @BX. ScrubbedFalcon (talk) 12:01, 18 March 2026 (UTC) :::The "Women playing base ball" section seems haphazardly dropped into the Vintage article, it doesn't seem to flow within the context of the article. This section may best be moved to Women in baseball. I do not believe anything should be merged into this article as proposed. BTW, I have prod a similar article Vintage Base Ball Association as non-notable. Rgrds. --BX (talk) 21:20, 18 March 2026 (UTC) == Semi-protected edit request on 5 March 2026 == I would like to add more information after it says "Chicago Cubs owner Philip K. She spent 8 years in the AAGPBL and played for 6 different teams. I would also like to add information about the Rockford Peaches, who had the most championship wins (4) out of the entire AAGPBL.
