This template is used to tag pages for speedy deletion under the [[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion|speedy deletion criteria]], specifically [[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#G6|CSD G6]].  There is a separate template for each criterion – see the table to the right.

This template places the page into the category: [[:Category:Candidates for speedy deletion|Candidates for speedy deletion]] and [[:Category:Candidates for technical speedy deletion]].

==Usage==
The template should be placed at the top of the page to be deleted.

:If the {{para|rationale}} (a.k.a. {{para|reason}} or {{para|wording}}) parameter is not specified, the default is "This page needs to be deleted to merge histories, reverse a redirect, or perform other non-controversial technical tasks." Unless you need to delete the page for one of these reasons, please specify in this parameter why the page needs to be deleted.  Consider also using one of the alternative templates listed [[#See also|below]].
