'''Template:Proposed deletion''' is used to tag articles and files for '''[[Wikipedia:proposed deletion|proposed deletion]]''' where it is believed that the deletion would be uncontroversial. It adds articles to the appropriate subcategory of [[:Category:Proposed deletion]], which is currently [[:Category:Proposed deletion as of {{CURRENTDAY}} {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}}]] (you can {{purge|click here}} to reset the cache if that isn't today's date). If [[WP:Consensus|consensus]] would need to be reached first, then the [[WP:AFD|articles for deletion]] or [[WP:FFD|files for discussion]] process is probably more appropriate.  You may also wish to check to see if the page meets the [[WP:CSD|criteria for speedy deletion]] as well.

If this template is removed from the page and the removal was not [[WP:Vandalism|vandalism]], then ''do not replace it''.  See {{slink|Wikipedia:Proposed deletion#Objecting}} for more information.

== Usage ==
Place the following text at the top of the page being proposed for deletion.

Make sure to replace <code><span style="color:gray">''concern''</span></code> with a brief rationale why the page is being proposed for deletion.  The template ''must'' be [[WP:SUBST|substituted]], i.e. <code><nowiki>subst:</nowiki></code> must be used, otherwise an error will appear. When posted correctly, an emphatic 'proposed for deletion' notice will appear at the top of the page.

When saving the page, ensure that the [[Help:Edit summary|edit summary]] states that you have proposed deletion. You may also wish to post further information on the page's [[WP:TP|talk page]].

Once saved and substituted, this template will have been replaced with either {{tl|Proposed deletion/dated}} or {{tl|Proposed deletion/dated files}}. These helper templates should not be used directly.
