Flag ratio?

[edit source]
Flag ratio: "1:2"? O RLY?

Seems like 2:3 to me. KPUFFERFİSHĊ 09:31, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

The flag of the Arab revolt- Aqaba 2006. Seems more like 1:2.
Soldiers in the Arab Army during the Arab Revolt of 1916-1918. They are carrying the Arab Flag of the Arab Revolt and pictured in the Arabian Desert. Seems like 2:3.

The flag shown here [1] seems 1:2 (260 by 130 pixels) while the one from Flags of the World [2] seems 2:3 (325 by 217 pixels). Both links don't state the ratios explicitly. Search results on Google Images show both 1:2 and 2:3 versions. D= KPUFFERFİSHĊ 09:52, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

Flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran

[edit source]

the flag of iran, although the colors look the same, it does not at all take from the colors of the flag of the Arab Revolt as the basis, and also has no relation between the flag of Iran and the flags of other Arab countries. Masrauf (talk) 13:21, 31 July 2021 (UTC)

Flag of Libya is not included in the Pan-Arab flags

[edit source]

In my opinion, the Libyan flag does not fall into the category of a pan-Arab flag, because even though it contains pan-Arab colors, the meaning behind the colors of the Libyan flag is different. each color on the Libyan flag represents the historic provinces that later made up the modern state of Libya, namely Fezzan (red), Cyrenaica (black), Tripolitania (green), in contrast to the flags of Palestine or Syria, for example, which have each color representing historical dynasties in various periods. I propose that the articles Flag of the Arab Revolt and Flag of the Arab Federation be merged, as they largely describe the same flag design and historical-symbolic lineage, with differences that are already adequately covered through contextual explanation rather than requiring separate standalone pages.

The flag commonly known as the Flag of the Arab Revolt (black, white, and green horizontal stripes with a red triangle at the hoist) was first adopted during the Arab Revolt of 1916. This same flag design was later used officially by the short-lived Arab Federation (1958), without significant alteration to its visual elements. The Arab Federation did not introduce a distinct or modified flag design, but rather reused the established Arab Revolt flag as a pan-Arab symbol.

Per WP:CONTENTFORK, maintaining two separate articles for the same flag design risks unnecessary duplication and fragmentation of information. Both pages currently repeat the same description of colors, symbolism, and origins, differing mainly in the political entity associated with the flag rather than the flag itself. Makes more sense to me to merge the flag of the Arab Federation to the Arab Federation. The flag of the Arab Revolt has no relevance to the flag of the Arab Federation aside from being the first flag with the pan-Arab colours, which the latter flag shares. Yue🌙 (talk) 04:09, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
Oppose @Najafite: It's not even the same flag? Flag of the Arab Revolt is black, green, white; Flag of the Arab Federation is black, white green. If you want all flags from the same "historical-symbolic lineage" in one article, then why not merge all Arab flag articles into Pan-Arab colors? --Un assiolo (talk) 19:59, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
support merging flag of the Arab Federation to Arab Federation. This specific instance of the flag doesn't need its own page considering its short longevity or cultural significance and its enough to have it mentionned on Arab Federation and the inclusion of the design on Flag of the Arab Revolt(as it already the case). Asrasnox (talk) 00:24, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
Support @Un assiolo's proposal of merging this and Flag of the Arab Federation into Pan-Arab colors. Hsnkn (talk) 20:33, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
To be clear, I don't support any mergers. My "proposal" to merge all Arab flag articles into Pan-Arab colors, including e.g. flag of Jordan, was meant to be a reductio ad absurdum. --Un assiolo (talk) 20:38, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
I suppose I'd withdraw my support then (this makes me feel quite stupid). Hsnkn (talk) 20:47, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
