merging Ri Chol

the other article is clearly a duplicate of this one, with the same name, birthday, «life path» etc. i think it should be a redirect to this one :3 əkrəm. 04:20, 30 December 2025 (UTC)

Oppose - I am not fully convinced yet that the two figures are identical. NK News cites Ri Chol and Ri Su-yong as separate figures (former as member of the SPA, latter as Chairman of FAC) [1].
There may be some in-wiki confusion as well. The source which supports Ri Chol's date of birth (SK Information Center on North Korea) says his birthday is actually April 13, 1935 [2]. But for some reason both the enwiki and kowiki says 1940. -- 00101984hjw (talk) 19:24, 3 January 2026 (UTC)

@00101984hjw Kowiki has a merge discussion ongoing. One editor cites several articles that claim these are the same people. [3][4] 리 부부장은 1988년 스위스 대사로 임명돼 '리철'이라는 가명을 사용했고 김정은 북한 국방위원회 제1위원장의 스위스 유학 시절에는 후견인 역할을 한 것으로 알려졌다. I am aware of these discussions; I've looked at the kowiki beforehand. However, due to the reasons aforementioned, I do not think the possibility that there is another Ri Chol can be ignored yet. -- 00101984hjw (talk) 04:55, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
